6063A and 6063 are two different grades of aluminum alloys, both belonging to the Al Mg Si series of 6-series aluminum alloys. The chemical composition of these two grades of aluminum alloys is similar, with the main elements being aluminum, silicon, and magnesium. The components contained in 6063A are all within the 6063 composition.
The difference between the two is mainly reflected in two aspects:
On the one hand, 6063A controls iron as an alloying element with a content of 0.15-0.35%. Therefore, the mechanical properties of 6063A are better than those of 6063. When the mechanical properties are required to be higher than 6063, 6063A can be selected. For example, the tensile strength of 6063-T5 is 160MPa, while that of 6063A-T5 is 200MPa; The tensile strength of 6063-T6 is 205 MPa, while that of 6063-A-T6 is 230 MPa.
On the other hand, due to the wider range of impurity elements in 6063A compared to 6063, and the concentration of iron content greater than 6063, the elongation is poor. The corresponding indicators are that the elongation of 6063 is greater than or equal to 8%, and 6063A is greater than or equal to 5%.
Therefore, some aluminum material factories use 6063A-T5 instead of 6063-T6 because their mechanical properties are similar.
However, for profiles that need to be bent in the future, caution should be exercised, as the plasticity of 6063A aluminum alloy profiles is relatively poor, When bending, it is easy to break or crack when the curvature radius is small.
The T5 state refers to the state where the product is cooled by the high-temperature forming process and then subjected to artificial aging. It is suitable for products that are cooled by the high-temperature forming process and not subjected to cold processing (can be straightened or flattened, but does not affect the mechanical performance limit) and subjected to artificial aging.
T6 refers to the state of artificial aging after solid solution heat treatment, suitable for aluminum alloy products that have not undergone cold processing after cooling in the high temperature forming process.
The industrial aluminum profiles produced by Dalian Ruituo use 6063-T5, which is widely used in industrial equipment frames, industrial fences, workbenches, and mask machine assembly lines. The 6063-T5 grade aluminum profiles are also commonly used for construction.
