Application Of Industrial Aluminum Profile In Aerospace
Aluminum alloy has a wide range of applications in aerospace components, with high-strength aluminum alloy thick plates serving as the main load-bearing components, accounting for 30% to 35% of the total aluminum on an aircraft. Currently, aluminum alloy materials used in civilian aircraft include aluminum alloy castings, aluminum alloy forgings, large-section aluminum alloy extruded profiles, and aluminum alloy thick plates.
In China’s independent regional jet, the ARJ21-700, and the C919 large aircraft, the quality of aluminum alloy parts accounts for 65% to 75% of the aircraft’s total weight. Extruded profiles and sheet materials made from high-strength aluminum alloys account for 30% to 35% of the total aluminum used on an airplane.
According to plans, by 2018, more than 30% of the aluminum alloy materials used in the ARJ21 regional jet and the C919 large aircraft will be domestically produced. Currently, domestically produced materials only make up 5% to 6% of the aluminum alloy used in the C919. In the coming years, the investment ratio of aluminum alloy in the aircraft market will experience a qualitative increase.

Analysis and forecasting indicate that global passenger air traffic is expected to grow at an annual average rate of 4.7% between 2014 and 2023, adding 19,000 aircraft. Approximately 12,400 low-fuel-burning aircraft will be retired and replaced by new aircraft, and global demand for new wide-body passenger and cargo aircraft will reach approximately 9,300 aircraft, accounting for 30% of the total number of new aircraft during the same period. Global aircraft numbers are expected to increase by 1, with Asia experiencing a growth rate of 35%.
It is forecasted by China Aviation Industry Corporation that the number of aviation transport aircraft in China will reach 3,900 by 2025, including 2,000 large aircraft.
With China’s aviation manufacturing industry entering a period of rapid development, the production of private aircraft and civilian aviation and large aircraft is increasing year by year, and the market size of aviation aluminum materials will continue to grow in the coming years.
